West Harbor Recreation: Boat Rental Agent
Duties
- clean boats
- polish and wax hulls
- sanding and painting boat bottoms
- shuttle boats between moorings and dock
- take boats to fuel dock for fueling, as needed
- assist with launching and recovering boats
- assist with trailer maintenance
- assist with boat and engine maintenance
- assist with other maintenance and repairs
- assist with service calls
- respond to customer inquiries, by phone, voice mail, text, e-mail, and in person
- process reservation requests
- assist customers in completing boat rental paperwork
- maintain records (online and hardcopy)
- collect payments
- orient customers to their boat, safety equipment, and the local waters
- check boats in and inspect upon return
- help keep office clean
- participate in environmental and safety initiatives
- participate in marketing efforts (photography, video, social media)

- able to use computer and other devices (smart phone, tablet) to access
- online apps (e-mail, google voice, facebook, instagram, reservation system, credit card processing, etc…)
- highly knowledgeable about boating and the waters of the Boothbay area (or willing and eager to learn), including:
- able to read a nautical chart, and use a compass to navigate
- able to use GPS chartplotters, fish-finders/depth-sounders, and VHF radios
- understand use of marine safety equipment and the basics of seamanship
- able to tie bowline, clove hitch, cleat belay, stopper knot, etc…
- able to coil lines and secure coils
- able to read a nautical chart, and use a compass to navigate
- know, understand and follow all safety guidelines, policies, procedures and expectations, and take immediate and appropriate action to rectify any unsafe conditions.
- demonstrate environmental awareness, understand the environmental impacts of all activities, and take steps to mitigate negative impacts.
- able to lift up to 50 pounds
- work outdoors (and at sea) in all weather
- the ability to work with cleaning agents, paints, fuel, and other
- chemical substances; wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
- 18 or older
Additional Desirable Qualifications
- Customer Service and Sales Experience
- Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronics Aptitudes
- Safe Boating Certificate or other Boating License
- Knowledge and Experience with Saltwater Fishing
- valid Driver’s License
- First Aid and CPR certification
Seasonal and Part-Time — typically 20 hours per week (range 10-30). Negotiable Hours, Good Pay, End of Season Bonus.
